We have shared teething advice here and there in our blog posts, but after the last couple of nights, I NEEDED a post where I could access all our favorite teething remedies in a hurry. Scarlett has been teething on her top, front two teeth for nearly four months now, and last evening that teething pain got so bad, it turned into a fever. All evening and the ENTIRE night, she had to be held for comfort. This mama is too sleepy for another terrible night of teething, so here’s what we use to best relieve our little one’s teething pain, day and night.
Frozen Teether or BPA-free Reusable Ice Cubes
Our main method of teething relief would have to be frozen teethers and ice cubes! *****Remember: Ice Cubes only with parental supervision*****
Banana Infant Teething Toothbrush

This is what I like to keep need to the bed for middle-of-the-night teething pain. There are other versions of this banana, but the one with the actual bristles seems to be by far better.
Frozen Puree Cubes in Feeding Paci

The three tips I have for this teething remedy are: make sure you don’t overfill the ice cube tray so that your cubes actually fit into the feeder, make sure your baby does actually like the puree that you are freezing, and we use fancy these food covers with rubberbands it them from Dollar General for the entire tray- super helpful, keeps food fresh, and quick and easy to grab some for a suddenly hysterical baby.
Infants’ Tylenol
This is a last resort for when nothing else seems to be helping, and for when she feels feverish in connection with her teeth.
Frozen Banana Slices

I think sometimes Scarlett can get sick of the paci-feeder, so it’s nice to have a few frozen banana slices or spears to hand her in those situations.
Frozen Washcloths
It is ultimately up to you, but I make sure to soak a soft baby washcloth in baby water for this instead of tap water.
Teething Wafers

Scarlett loves her some HappyBaby blueberry and purple carrot wafers or the ToddleMumMum Mango&Kiwi RiceBiscuits, which are a little harder, but seemingly delicious according to my baby. You can also try other hard foods that aren’t baby specific, as long as they are baby safe.
Cold Melon

Watermelon or Cantaloupe are Scarlett’s favorites, but also cucumber can be nice for them to gnaw on. The one warning with a super juicy melon is that may turn into some baby swamp-ass the next day.
Nearly* Frozen Water Bottle
Really it’s nearly frozen AND you want to freeze the bottle on its side, so that your baby can have very cold water wash over their gums and still chew on the frozen cube, which should be right in the open spout of the bottle if you froze it on its side.
(Remove ENTIRE chocking hazard cap, etc.)
Wooden Teether
At times, teething babies will be outright biting the hell out of everything, toys, electronics, hands, legs, feet, these are the times when handing them a piece of treated wood and saying enjoy, suddenly doesn’t seem so odd. There are some very cheap, untreated teethers available, just be sure to pick up some baby safe wood sealant, like coconut oil and beeswax if you decide to save!
Essential Oils
Safe and most commonly used for under 2 teething relief: Chamomile, Lavender- Article on: How to use essential oils for teething baby

Chamomile Tea Ice Cubes
Trying this for the first time today! If you notice that the chamomile essential oil helps, then some tea ice cubes may help as well. The blog where I first saw this remedy mentioned brought up the reminder to make sure the tea is not too potent or concentrated.
Teething Jewelry
Nuby makes some of these for babies, but also, mama can make/buy/wear her own too. I put mine together with the leftover beads from building Scarlett’s wooden baby gym.
Brush Their Teeth

Brushing their teeth with a regular toothbrush and training toothpaste is a great way to quickly massage your baby’s gums for better blood flow and hopefully some relief.
Camilia Teething Relief

The one thing I would say about these is that I easily found them at Walgreens, and that if your baby has a really stuffy nose and easily spits up because of it, be careful where and when you give them Camilia because Scarlett threw up the second time. This has been the only truly teething medicinal product I’ve found so far that hasn’t had a bunch of negativity attached to it at one time or another.
Bottle Feed

Clearly you could also nurse, but I’m not going to be the one to tell a mom to nurse her teething baby, that’s up to you! The bottle seems to really comfort her well!
Board Books

I think that half of what appeals to Scarlett about board books is entertainment value and the other half has got to be the fact that she can really get in some good teething time on the sturdy pages!
