While 2018 brought us babies and motherhood, we are looking forward to the adventures 2019 will bring! From our little one’s first steps to their first birthdays, there are sure to be some incredible memories made. As we look to the future with hope and excitement, we’ve gathered a few of our goals for the new year!

Jan 1st: Cooking has never been a talent or interest of mine. My family traditions never revolved around food as much as other families, so I never found much importance in it. However, as I enter my first full year of motherhood and Blake is eating more and more, I realize that I want to be able to provide him with good healthy meals. I want him to grow to like all kinds of foods, and that starts with what I introduce to him. I also want to provide a more healthy (and delicious) menu for myself and my husband. So this year I want to bust out a couple of cookbooks and delve into the world of cooking to sustain a happy and healthy family!
Jan 31st: Thanks to Pinterest, I think I can confidently say I’m on track for this resolution! I’ve tried a handful of new recipes I found on their, and most of them are much healthier and pretty darn good! I just need to get better at planning meals and hitting the grocery store in the beginning of the week.

Jan 1st: I’ve always been more environmentally aware than most people, but becoming a mom has motivated me to expand on that. I want to ensure a cleaner and safer world for Blake, so not only do I want to become more environmentally conscious, but I want to encourage others to do so as well. First, I want to reduce my use of plastic. Plastic takes 450 years to decompose! And secondly, I want to increase our composting. Our neighborhood is one of the fortunate ones that offers free composting. Between our recycling and composting, my goal is to have as little trash as possible!
Jan 31st: I have become more aware of the packaging of products, and have tried to steer clear of plastics. I have also composted a lot more than I have in the past. I’ve taken the time to put more of our food waste in the compost bin in the garage, as opposed to just putting it in the trash can in the kitchen. Just a little more effort goes a long way!

Jan 1st: Lastly, I want to expand on this blog. Writing has always been a love of mine, and this blog has helped motivate me to write more. I want to write more consistently and develop a stronger voice. I want to document the ups and downs of motherhood as Blake begins to develop from baby to toddler before my eyes. And I want to utilize the depth that blogging has to offer and really bring this little sprout of an idea to full bloom!
Jan 31st: This is the resolution I’m probably slacking on. Finding the time to write posts is such a difficulty for me. My little guy is still quite the clingy baby and only allows me to small amounts of time to do anything for myself, and that includes going to the bathroom. haha. Hopefully, as he turns one he becomes a bit more independent and allows me more writing time!

Jan 1st: At the beginning, I sometimes read 3 entire Dr. Suess books per day to Scarlett, but there have been days here and there where we haven’t read anything. With such a big personal library of children’s literature, I want to make it a part of our routine that when we have a few minutes of downtime, my thoughts go to grabbing a book, not always a new toy or a teether.
Jan 31st: So far I have missed one day of reading with Scarlett, and it was simply because she went to sleep super early. I made this “reading together” resolution because when I went back to work again I felt like I was missing out too much on sharing sweet, intimate moments with my baby everyday. Establishing this as a priority in my life has made reading a more regular activity in our day as just something fun to do and the baby really does love it.

Jan 1st: Basically since I’ve work makeup, I’ve slept in it. I’m hoping this year I can break that horrible habit and really stick to a bedtime routine of cleaning my face!
Jan 31st: I have laid down with makeup on a few times, but I have successfully not slept an entire night/woken up with makeup still on even once this year!

Jan 1st: It’s funny how Amanda and I both came up with a resolution that’s ultimately the same, just titled something different. But I also want to post more consistently. But not only that, I want to improve my photo and post quality. I want to take the time to write down more of my personal recipes and DIYs, to conduct interviews on magical mommies I’ve had questions to ask for months. I also want to go back to a few more honest, raw posts like my Not-So-Ideal Birth Story. So far in 2019, I’ve begun setting up an actual So It Grows home office!
Jan 31st: Making So It Grows a legit blog has been the hardest resolution to keep. I have made strides, but I’m still not where I’d like to be. My little office is a messy disaster and I still need a new laptop. But I have been actively organizing my office and I’ve done the research for a new laptop and some financial planning. More than anything though, I need to establish and stick to a blogging schedule! Even if I’m not where I want to be, I’m proud of myself for at least making some strides in an effort to legitimize this blog.
